Living in Surrey
South West of
London lies the beautiful countryside of Surrey. Only 30 to 40 minutes from the
centre of London by rail, the towns and villages of Surrey provide an ideal
environment to live and enjoy life.
The world famous Sunningdale and St George's Hill Golf Clubs are minutes from
our Weybridge offices. The area boasts perhaps the highest concentration of
quality courses in the world including:

- Thames Ditton & Esher
- Burhill Golf Club,
- Surbiton Golf
Wimbledon - home of the All England Tennis Club and the famous Grand Prix
championship is but 20 mins by road or train. Every town and almost every
village boasts their own tennis club or two plus public facilities open to
Cricket Surrey has one of the finest county championship
records. Many games are played at the Oval in London but occasional games are
played in the more rural surroundings of Guildford. The success of the county
team rests upon a network of local clubs catering for players of all abilities
and providing both a pleasant sporting and social environment.
Racing Sandown Park in Esher lies within our area. Not much further are the
famous courses at Epsom (home of 'The Derby'), Royal Ascot and Kempton
The varied landscape has been protected by the
'greenbelt' around London. Ancient woods abound and the area is also home to
the Royal Horticultural Gardens at Wisley and the famous eighteenth century
adventure in landscape gardening at Painshill Park.
easy reach is Runnymede where King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215 and now
home to the Kennedy memorial. Alongside is the great River Thames flowing
tranquilly eastwards past Hampton Court Palace towards London. Windsor Castle,
home of the Queen and Windsor Great Park is but a short distance away.
Besides being one of the most convenient places for commuting into
central London our area is well served by motorways to the west (M4), the
southwest (M3) and to all the other national trunk roads by the London orbital
Heathrow and Gatwick airports are within easy reach yet the area is still a
series of intimate towns and villages abounding in quiet lanes and
home of APW, also has a special place in the history of transport with the
former Brooklands motor racing track where Bentley's raced in the 1930's.
During the war Barnes Wallis designed and Vickers built the innovative
Wellington bomber in Weybridge.
Surrey is a wonderful place
to bring up a family. Besides the pleasant environment and an opportunity to
become involved in the local community activities - Surrey offers a rich
variety of educational opportunities. Surrey County Council provides free state
schooling and many famous public schools are within reach. Cobham is home to
the world famous Yehudi Menuhin School for gifted musicians and of the American
also many opportunities for further and higher education. Guildford is the home
of the University of Surrey and Royal Holloway College, (a constituent college
of the University of London) has an amazing Victorian edifice in Egham.
